Fire & EMS Protection
Township Trustees are, by Indiana Law, (Indiana Code 36-8) responsible to provide fire and EMS protection for the areas of the township that are not incorporated into the city or town. This can be done by contracting with your local fire department. Some townships operate their own township fire department, and some do a combination. Adams Township contracts with the Town of Sheridan for our Fire and EMS protection.
We purchased some new extraction equipment for the fire department in 2019. The pictures below shows the department practicing with the new equipment.

New Fire Truck & Equipment
Adams Township has agreed to purchase a new fire truck for the Sheridan Fire Department. When Chief Travis Stern spoke to the Trustee and board he also expressed the need for new equipment to stock the new fire truck. The boards thought was if we were purchasing a new truck for the department, we wanted to make sure it was ready to be put in service when it arrived. The board voted to let Chief Stern go ahead and order the equipment.
