Cemetery Maintenance

Indiana Code 23-14 states the Township Trustee is responsible for maintaining the pioneer cemeteries in the township that are abandoned. In Adams Township there are nine cemeteries total, but Adams Township is only responsible for Baker’s Cemetery, Teter Cemetery, Pleasant Ridge Cemetery and Pearson Cemetery. Over the years we have had all four of the abandoned cemeteries restored. We have books in the office with information on the cemeteries and headstones, along with before and after pictures of the work that was done.
